Bio

Miguel likes to look good, and for this curly-haired eighth-grader that usually means a suit, matching tie and shiny dress shoes.

Sporting a sharp tan pinstripe, Miguel proudly runs down the rest of his wardrobe, saying he feels most at ease when dressed to the nines.

"I've got this one, two black ones, a brown one and I want to get a white one," he said eagerly. "I just like to dress up to be comfortable."

Shy and smiley, Miguel has big brown eyes and dreams of playing left field for either the Yankees or the Phillies, his two favorite baseball teams. He likes the beach and hopes to one day visit Puerto Rico and explore his heritage. Right now, though, he enjoys the Jersey Shore, especially the rides on the boardwalk.

"Last Saturday I went on a new ride that goes backwards and frontwards and then stops and goes real fast," he said.

Placed in foster care as a young child, Miguel can't remember how many places he's lived and longs for a traditional family, with a mom, dad and maybe a little brother. He wants a family that will let him grow his hair long and wouldn't mind a race car bed either.

"I'm smart and lovable and I dress nice," he said, adding that he already does chores at his foster home like vacuuming, dusting and cleaning the bathroom.

His caseworker described Miguel as "very respectful" and hopes families can see past the cloak of shyness to the sweet, kind-hearted boy underneath.

"He wants a nice family and he's not a kid who demands a lot," she said. "He just wants someone to love him and give him a chance."

Miguel also needs a family who will allow him to maintain contact with his older brother.
