Della and Dana, two sisters who are thoughtful, articulate and charismatic, have been in foster care “since forever.”
They don’t live in the same house but they hope it will change. Della describes her clothing style as “a bright person, like a highlighter, I like to stand out.”
When it comes to expressing what’s on her mind, she likes to write poems.
“When you’re standing still you can say what you can’t when everything is passing by so fast,” Della said of her poetry, which includes passages on everything from violence in inner cities to love and family.
Dana’s style is more understated - jeans and sneakers. But she is also the more talkative sister and loves the spotlight. She wants to be an environmental conservationist, “loves monkeys” and looks up to her role models, the late Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin and Jane Goodall.
It “drives me crazy” when animals are mistreated, she said, and she wants to be part of the solution. Both sisters want to travel and hope to go to college.
