Bio
It's obvious when you look into Luis's eyes that he has a huge, soft heart.
Quick to smile, Luis has a calm demeanor and an accepting personality that melts anyone who has the honor of spending just fifteen minutes with him.
"My ideal family is one that will be supportive and send me to a good high school," Luis says, simply. "I want and can do better than this."
Luis has been in foster care since he was six years old. He knows his mother wasn't able to care for him.
He holds fast to his Honduran and Puerto Rican heritage.
"I'd like to visit Honduras and Puerto Rico to understand where my parents came from," Luis says, before breaking into a grin. "And maybe Australia, because I like kangaroos."
He likes to play baseball, basketball and football, and especially likes the Panthers. He enjoys scary movies like the Final Destination series, and funny movies with Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler in them. In school, he enjoys math, because he's particularly quick at adding and multiplying.
When asked about chores, he smiles, yet again, and says he doesn't mind taking the garbage out at all. Luis is polite, well-dressed, and couldn't hurt a fly. He calls himself "helpful" and says he is thankful he can walk and talk - he remembers to be grateful about it every day.
Luis looks up to his 18-year-old brother, Aaron, who lives about a block away. Aaron is independent, and works hard to support himself. Luis hopes to be like him, too. It is important that the bond between Luis and Aaron is maintained.
In five years, Luis imagines he'll still be in school - he wants to go to college for engineering, so he can build cars - and living with a family who loves him.
And maybe even a girlfriend.
