Bio
Sherod likes to work with his hands, whether sketching cartoon characters or helping his uncle repair cracked car windows in his garage workshop.
"He lets me get all the tools," says Sherod, who one day hopes to be a mechanic and work on engines. Meantime, he stays focused on school.
Sherod's favorite subjects are math, because he says he always gets the correct answers to the problems, and science, because he loves doing experiments in the lab.
"It's also funny to think about all the different planets and try to figure out if you breathe there," he says.
A handsome and intelligent boy, Sherod wants most to be adopted by parents who will also take in his sister, Alnisa, who lives in a different foster home.
"My dream is for me and my sister to be together," he says.
Alnisa feels best about herself when she is helping others. If her foster mother cooks dinner, for instance, she cleans up afterwards.
"I like to sweep and mop the kitchen," she says.
Alnisa wants to be a lawyer someday so she can continue doing good deeds.
"I would like to aid people with their struggles, like when they get in a car accident," she explains.
But even the most helpful people need help themselves sometimes. For Alnisa, that means assistance from adoptive parents who can provide her with a permanent and happy home where she can live with her brother, Sherod.
"I look up to my brother even though he's smaller," Alnisa says. "He is loving, and funny, and careful."
Currently Alnisa sees her brother only twice a month.
